FLODESK
Flodesk presents a study desk designed to promote active procrastination through single-task processing. Research shows multitasking, part of passive procrastination, impairs cognitive function and increases stress. Active procrastination, where users consciously switch tasks, enhances productivity and reduces negative emotions.
Designed for home use, particularly for university students and home office workers, Flodesk features a structure for seamless switching between three surfaces. Two surfaces allow task switching without moving items, while the third is for standing tasks. The size is optimized for single-task use, employing a clear tech design to encourage surface switching, promoting conscious task differentiation through subconscious behavior.

Workflow

Only one desk is active at a time, with the others on standby, preventing multitasking distractions. Users transition tasks effortlessly through visual guidance and mechanical interaction, requiring no conscious adjustment.
The diagram uses a left-handed example and features Flodesk’s three-desk system: A and B (sitting desks) and C (standing desk), each representing a distinct task to accommodate diverse work needs.
Task switching between A and B is achieved via a hand-operated lever: Desk A lowers, moves horizontally to the right, and rises into standby, while Desk B slides left into A’s original position. The movements of A and B are perfectly synchronised, ensuring a smooth and seamless transition.
Summary
Through discussions and testing with various visitors, I am happy that most people found this to be helpful and effective. Some even felt it was exactly what they needed. I am pleased to receive praise.
I am also glad that the problem of multitasking resonated strongly with everyone, and this digital-free solution was recognized by most people. Of course, I know it is not perfect now and there are still areas that need improvement. But I believe that through future learning and in-depth study, FLODESK can become better.
